BRIEF HISTORY OF BARANGAY STA. LUCIA
Declared as “Barrio†in 1898 upon the inauguration of the first Republic of the Philippines, the name “STA. LUCIA†was given by its residents, majority of whom came from Sta. Lucia, Ilocos Sur.
One of the smallest Barangay in terms of both population and land area, Barangay Santa Lucia is generally a residential area. A total of 1,664 individuals (based on municipal population planning office estimates) or equivalent to 369 households reside in a total area of 100.60 hectares.
General source of income is largely coming from contractual wages of casual/irregular/part time employees reaching a figure of 143 household heads. Other sources of income is farming or agricultural activities (65 household heads), and regular salaries (53 household heads).
