BRIEF HISTORY OF BARANGAY MALUID

The historical background of Maluid boast of no thrilling saga, stories so sensational, and tales shrouded with mystery, nor epics of great men responsible for the founding of this barrio, in comparison of the beginnings of the other barrios of our town. But just like any other barrio, this struggling village was also the setting of the pioneering spirit of those sturdy stocks of Ilocandia. They were an industrious and hardworking people. With their own initiative coupled with resourcefulness, they were able to lift up their struggling little village from want property. But their barrio must, at least have a name. for the reason that the trials that leads to the barrio takes a winding course, the settlers through it fit and proper to call their barrio Pulipol, an Ilocano word means winding, for the name was used to called their barrio.
Then all of a sudden, settlers from the province of Pampanga came. The influx was so great that after number years, the dominant population of the barrio was made up of Pampangos. The early Ilocos settlers were forced to give way and went deeper to the Interior, with the natural yearning improvement; this group this much in the fast and steady growth of the barrio, progress in their living was seen and noted, all through the industry and resourcefulness. The barrio became prosperous and not a member of population was in want. Then an idea came to the people of giving a Pampango name of their barrio. Because of their desire to give the place of the right name in consonance with their wish to live longer life in prosperity and a monument of their struggles, they called their place Maluid which means “Long Life”
But as fate would have it, the everlasting prosperity of their dream began to recede. The little land that independent farmers tilled fell to the lands of a few affluent people. The inhabitants, down to the present generation, were not able to regain their lost treasured farms that up to the present, only a few people own the prolific farms of Maluid.
