Baculong was founded and the early part of eighteen century by the late Capitan Casimiro Tanedo, who was said to have come from Zambales. Baculong was once a great habit inhabited by few a people, who depended mainly on hunting for their livelihood. At the end of the cruel Spanish rule and with the coming of the benevolent American Regime, more and more people came from Zambales and Pangasinan.
The great and thick forest afforded a great place for the rubbers and outlaws to wait for their preys. The people were ambushed and robbed for their belongings when they passed through this place. This device was known as “Bankulong” which means trap. The Bankulong was not only used to catch animals and fishes, but also human beings who were robbed and killed by the outlaws.
